The New York Fed provides employees and their families with
medical, dental, prescription drug and vision benefits, as
well as a Pre-Tax Contribution Plan and Flexible Spending
Accounts (FSA). Our health benefits program consists of:
- Three medical plans administered by BlueCross BlueShield
and United Health Care
- A prescription drug plan administered by Medco Health
Solutions, Inc.
- Two dental plans administered by Cigna
- Vision benefits
- A Pre-Tax Participant Contribution Plan
- Two Flexible Spending Accounts (health care and dependent
care)
Federal Reserve Banks pay a portion of health insurance
premiums for eligible employees and their families. There
are two Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans administered
by Blue Cross and Blue Shield and one Point-of-Service (POS)
plan administered by UnitedHealthcare.
Prescription drug coverage is provided by Medco Health Solutions,
Inc. through a network of participating pharmacies that
represent approximately 90% of all pharmacies nationwide,
including most national chains.
Vision benefits are available through the Vision Service
Plan network to provide overall eye health and wellness.
The Bank offers the choice of two dental plans under the
Cigna Preferred Provider Organization. Both provide coverage
for preventive, basic, and major restorative services. The
premier option also includes coverage for implants and orthodontia.
With flexible spending accounts, employees may set aside
a portion of their pre-tax salary to reimburse eligible
health care and dependent day care expenses. Items under
dependent care include: child care, after-school care, and
care for an elderly or disabled parent or financially dependent
spouse.
The onsite medical staff at our Liberty Street, NYC and
East Rutherford, NJ offices offer an array of health services,
including health and wellness education, counseling and
disease prevention, disease-related screenings, maternity
leave counseling and processing, emergency medical care
for illness or injury, and treatment for minor medical conditions.
The Medical Service Division offers a variety of wellness
programs, at no cost, to all employees. Programs include
cholesterol screening, skin cancer screening, mammography
exams, prostate cancer screening, nutrition information
and stress management.
Reduced fee classes are held in the Bank's gymnasium in
Tai Chi, Meditation, Salsa Aerobics, Yoga and more. In addition,
an onsite chair massage is available by appointment at the
Bank's Liberty Street, NYC and East Rutherford, NJ offices.
The Bank's Employee Assistance Program, administered by
an outside consulting firm, is designed to serve as a starting
point for employees and their immediate families to seek
help for personal or family concerns. These include alcohol
and drug abuse, stress, marital difficulties and psychological
counseling.
The Bank maintains fitness centers at its Liberty Street,
NYC, East Rutherford, NJ, and Buffalo locations. All employees
are eligible to apply for membership. The number of employees
who may be enrolled is limited and a waiting period may
apply.
