Why the Fed?

The New York Fed is a great place to work for someone who is interested in international economic policy, given its central position in today’s increasingly globalized financial system. The New York Fed’s reputation for top-notch analysis, its unique role in the formulation and execution of monetary policy, and its place at the intersection of policy and financial markets made it the perfect place for me to start my career.

My Responsibilities

I am responsible for keeping senior management and Bank staff informed on economic, political, and financial market issues in Brazil, Mexico and Ecuador. My duties include monitoring and analyzing day-to-day developments in these countries and in Latin America generally, assessing risks and policy implications, forecasting macroeconomic and financial variables, briefing policymakers and other staff, and maintaining a network of official and private sector contacts.

Challenges and Rewards of My Job

Keeping up with the broad range of issues that require my attention can be challenging, but it’s also one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. Working in the Emerging Markets and International Affairs Group has given me exposure to a wide variety of countries and the different policy challenges they face.

How Is the Fed Unique?

The Fed employs a diverse group of talented people with backgrounds in academia, markets, operations and policy who work together to meet the important and unique challenges we face as the central bank of the United States.
