James Harrigan is a Research Officer in the International Research Department. He conducts research on international trade, economic geography, the Japanese economy, and other topics. Mr. Harrigan joined the Bank in July 1996. Before that, he taught at the University of Pittsburgh. He has also taught at Columbia University, and is a member of the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Harrigan has published articles in a number of scholarly journals, and is a former Co-Editor of The Journal of International Economics. Mr. Harrigan earned a B.A. in economics from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. in economics from UCLA.
