The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System has revised two of its brochures regarding consumer and business credit. Highlights are summarized below:
Consumer Handbook to Credit Protection Laws
This is the 13th edition. It reflects recent changes in law and regulation. Topics covered include:
- The cost of credit
- Applying for credit
- Credit histories and records
- Correcting mistakes and resolving misunderstandings
- Canceling a mortgage
- Liability limits on lost or stolen credit cards
- Electronic fund transfers
It also includes a directory of federal agencies, and information on how to file a credit complaint.
A Guide to Business Credit for Women, Minorities, and Small Businesses
The guide explains the application process for small business loans and steps to take if a loan is denied. It also provides information on the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and lists sources for assistance in the application process.
